corruptedstars asked: Ian Mcginty and (oh goodness I forgot Missy's last name, but she sits at the same table as Ian)

emeraldcitycomicon:

Hey ianmcginty can you please tell us about the blue pencils you and Missy use?

Yes! Absolutely. We use a variety of different colored pencils, some more for the aesthetic look (like the orange and green ones Missy used for her sketches), but the ones I use are for pencilling only. The advantage here is that I can drop out that particular color in Photoshop and avoid messy erasing. The brand I use the most is the Staedtler Non Photo Blue, which comes in large pieces you can drop into a drop lead mechanical pencil. I also use 9mm red and dark blue lead to refine edges. All of this can be found by exploring www.jetpens.com or www.dickblick.com !

BOOM! STUDIOS UNVEILS ITS EMERALD CITY COMICON 2014 EXCLUSIVES

Seattle’s Emerald City Comic Con 2014 is just around the corner, and while I’ve been trying to figure out if I can make it to the very first Starbucks to complete my tour of original chain restaurant locations (I went to the first KFC back in 2005, there is a museum attached), the folks at Boom! Studios have been busy with a new set of variant covers! They’ll be offering a handful of Emerald City exclusive covers at the show, and they’re all pretty awesome.

Check our site to see the roster of ECCC variants, including a Nirvana-inspired take on Adventure Time, a new look at Lumberjanes #1, a Punch-Out!! homage for Regular Show: Skips, and a new cover for The Midas Flesh #1 by Sex Criminals artist Chip Zdarsky!

GAS POWERED STICKKKKKKK!!!

"When it comes to Bravest Warriors, nobody steals the show like the contagiously obnoxious Impossibear. Sure, Catbug is the show’s king of cuteness (and already got the spotlight back in January with the Bravest Warriors 2014 Annual #1), but only Wallow’s multicolored pet/compatriot/roommate is capable of the kind of brazen self-interest and sloth that lets you know he thinks the entire show should be about him. Boom! knows this, which is why the publisher will be releasing the Bravest Warriors 2014 Impossibear Special in June, which features the work of storytellers Kevin Panetta, Nikki Mannino, Jeremy Sorese, Kevin Church, Kat Leyh, Paulina Ganucheau and Jess Fink, plus covers by Ian McGinty and Andy Hirsch."

Hey look at all these cool people who will be at #ECCC and then me as well. Rad cool sweet and cool rad !!!

So! Nobody has called me out on this yet, but in me, ananthymous, and aidosaur's #AdventureTime series #Candy Capers, I hid a bunch of tiny BMO's all over the place. These are the ones I found, but there's at least 6 more throughout the series. Eventually, letterer hannahmakeslotsofthings and she even moved the little guys around so they wouldn’t be covered by word balloons! What a champ.

#BMO is my favorite AT character (look for an upcoming short by me titled “Sir BMO, Knight of Ooo!” in the AT comics), so of COURSE I gotta hide that janky little bot all over the place, man! Shout out to my writers for not kicking my butt as well, ‘cause for all I know they could have hated BMO for some weird reason, like maybe BMO reminded them of some dork in school you know…

Oh, yeah! These comics are all out now and available to buy in your local comic shop!

Hey guys, a cool thing is happening you need to know about. Very rad cool gal Marissa Mozek (Archaia, Boom Studios) is putting together a very rad cool anthology called TRANSITIONS!

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/782530523/transitions-comic-anthology

Here is my little contribution to the book, about my favorite season and favorite holiday; Fall and Halloween, respectively! But dang, this is gonna be a good one so any help is super appreciated!

Within one cycle, move through all the seasons of the year by reading these short comic stories.

What’s It’s All About

Transitions, is all about movement and change. Within one year we go through four different seasons, at least most of the time. For this anthology I really wanted to touch on this movement, and how each each season has its own story. Seasons also evoke unique memories and feelings for everyone. These are some stories that came from the minds of our artists and express what a specific season means to them individually.

Transitions is simple, relatable, and a part of life. I hope you enjoy it, and that you’ll help us raise the funds so it can become a reality.

Who’s Gonna  Be In It?

But before we go any further, here are some of the artists that are in the anthology:

Lauren Sparks
